My name is Nikhita, I love the outdoors, being creative, and reading. My passion is to use my product design skills to push the frontiers of innovation and technology, particularly in the field of health care or luxury consumer goods and services.
For my Capstone project, I worked with a design team to research and develop a design for a proprietary, electromechanically driven, rotary multi-tool used for outdoor dining purposes. Our theme was “Baby G-Shock” watches by Casio.
Capstone Studio 6 combines all the subjects I learned in this degree to create a manufacturable and functional/aesthetic prototype for the end-of-year exhibition. The prototype is created with consideration for manufacturability, environmental impact, usability, and branding, all while keeping the chosen user’s and manufacturer’s needs in mind.
I find hand drawing and iterative prototyping helps greatly in visualizing and finalizing my design. It is exciting seeing my high-resolution 3D models and accurate technical drawings made via CAD (Computer Aided Design). Pitching presentations helps me a lot in gaining feedback and to further refine the end goals of my project.
